Functional testing can be used a part of the nutritional therapy consultation process to work towards moving the body towards a more balanced state.

The tests used in my practice have been developed and validated with extensive scientific research by accredited laboratories.

I may recommend functional tests to give further insight into your condition.  I use a number of laboratories (GDX Genova, Biolab, Regenerus Labs, Cyrex Labs and Invivo Clinical) in order to get the best recommendation as part of your treatment plan. These are not compulsory but functional testing can provide tangible support for for some clients, enabling them with the help of working with a qualified therapist to see clearly what aspects of their health need support and can be very useful when assessing the effectiveness of treatment or supplementation.

Examples of private laboratory tests:

GI MAP (Comprehensive stool testing) - includes H pylori, yeast, bacterial colonies, inflammatory and absorption markers, genetic resistance to antibiotic use, SIgA level

H Pylori breath and stool tests

SIBO breath test - upper abdominal pain, bloating and malabsorption issues
Microbial profile
Coeliac markers
Organic acid testing
Heavy metal testing

Fertility Profile

Detoxification and digestion markers
Adrenal insufficiency and fatigue
Metabolic profile
Hormonal profile (salivary, urine, blood)

Thyroid profile (incl free T3, rT3 and antibodies)

Allergy and Food Intolerance Testing

Lorisian, has 35 years’ experience, specialising in laboratory tests that measure food triggers (food-specific IgG antibodies). The tests are aimed at those that may have food intolerances, and those who want to optimise their diets or improve their digestive health by avoiding any foods that they are reacting to.  Identifying food intolerances can be an important element of optimising health and wellbeing.

Food intolerance is a condition with a range of symptoms including gut symptoms, bloating, headaches, migraines, low mood, fatigue, weight gain and skin problems. These symptoms must always be checked out by a Medical Professional. If you have seen a Medical Professional but have not been given a diagnosis for your symptoms you may be suffering from a food intolerance.

Blood prick test.  Results take about a week.  (The Lorisian intolerance test only looks for IgA immune complexes not IgE reactions but the test is convenient and does not need additional laboratory blood draws so can be carried out in the comfort of your own home.

Genova Diagnostics offer an excellent IgE and IgA Allergy and Intolerance test which checks for build up of IgA food-specific antibodies and true allergic reactions to food groups.  It is priced at £264.  Please contact me for further information regarding what test is right for you.

DNA Testing  and Nutritional Therapy

Genetics and nutrition work together to affect gene expression.

We can't change our genes but through the implementation of diet and lifestyle we can influence how our genes express.

MyDNAHealth does not diagnose any medical conditions but rather tests for epigenetic predispositions which or may not be expressing. The tests only show the genes which can be influenced by our choice of nutrition and lifestyle.  Additional information is gathered about each client by filling in relevant questionnaires which adds more details to the genes they are testing for by evaluating their current lifestyle. Examining this information alongside their genetic potentials provides a clearer picture of how their lifestyle is affecting their gene expression.

Get an easy-to-read report that analyses and interprets your lifestyle and genetic variants and displays risk scores in over 26 health and wellness areas. Discover where your lifestyle may be impacting your genes and potential health.
